Benrinnes 15 years, Private Barrel Company.

This is an independent bottling of Benrinnes 15 year whisky, and not often seen. Using a very unusual triple distilled process, like the Irishers, this speyside spirit was distilled in 1998, when the world was still worrying about Y2K.

Private Barrel Company is a South African purveyor of fine whisky, and their choices are usually very good.

This one is soft and sweet, for after dinner, with friends and good conversation.

Nose: Sweet dough and raisins

Palate: Sugared almonds with apricot and some maple syrup

Finish: Lovely and elegant with light notes of sweet tobacco
