Cardhu 12 years Single Malt

A 1990’s bottling of 12 year old Cardhu single malt Scotch whisky, presented in their distinctive stout decanter with the wooden stopper. This is a single malt whisky of some provenance.

Cardhu has always delivered the goods.  Founded by a smuggler, and hawked by his wife off their farm, this rock solid Speyside distillery started out right. Pure market forces.

Cardhu was bought by JW and sons (by means of an offer they couldn’t refuse, apparently) is the mid 1800’s and the rest is Johnnie Walker’s fame. Used almost exclusively in Johnnie Walker blends since that time, single malt expressions started to find their way to the world in the 1980’s.

In 2020 Diageo, current owners of the brand launched a cask strength expression of Cardhu in an unusual 11 years. Perfect speyside dram, conceived by smugglers, enjoyed everywhere, especially Spain.
