Cladach Blended Malt, the ‘Shoreline’ 2018

This limited release coastal colossus was matured at 6 coastal distilleries in first-fill bourbon casks, oak hoggies, European oak butts and ex-bodega European oak butts.

Part of the Diageo’s annual limited edition Special Releases for 2018, the Cladach (Gaelic for shoreline) is Caol Ila, Clynelish, Inchgower, Lagavulin, Oban and Talisker. A real mouthful at 51.7% this is a drinkers whisky, young and strong.

An incredibly well-balanced dram, with the coastal characteristics of the component whiskies and just enough smoke to compliment the more elegant flavors.

Nose: rich, dark fruits, bonfire smoke from leafy pine, orange oil come through. lots happening

Palate: Both sweeter and smokier on the palate with wood smoke, blackberry, stewed apple, and hard toffee. Liquorice Allsorts, honeycomb and a dash of mint keep it lively.

Finish: Gently drying with dark chocolate and more of that smoke, dried orange peel and a dash of vanilla
