Glengoyne 21 years Single Malt old bottling

This is a traditional whisky, well sherried and round, an Old fashioned gent walking in the rain.

Glengoyne goes back to the early days of the Distillery business and it is unusual in that it produces whisky in the Highlands, and then the barrels are matured across the road, in the Lowlands.

Glengoyne is much more like a  lowland whisky that a Highland whisky, with the typical highland peat notably absent. Lots of grass, very sweet, a lovely dram indeed.

Nose: Punchy oak, potpourri, cranberries, raspberries, a little malt and figs on the nose.

Palate: Richly sherried. Everything is tangy and spiced – molasses, hot apple cider, Christmas pudding with flaming brandy and a touch of cracked black peppercorns.

Finish: Ends with Oloroso and sweet malt.
