Johnnie Walker Swing Blended Scotch Whisky
The bottle is a perfect example of the 1970;s and 1980’s Swing Blend, quite different from the modern blend we know today. You will note that Johnnie is marching West. This was changed in the mid 1990’s when Johnnie decided that Asia is the way to face the future.
This lovely blend was first produced in 1932, especially for bars on the Huge Ocean liners that would travel the seven seas. The slightly rounded base enables the bottle to swing too and fro, with the motion of the ocean, and most likely the Crazy Jazz.
A beautiful addition to any bar, the Scotch inside the cool bottle is probably 18 years of age or thereabouts, and is blended with Cardhu as its base malt. Both Grains and Malt whiskies are clear in the blend.
This is a great blend on ice, on a friday afternoon. Perhaps a monday evening. On the weekend watching rugby. Easy drinking.
Nose: Soft orange, whiff of smoke, some oak
Taste: light smoke, sweet oranges, balanced
Finish: Medium sweet with oak memories
