Knockando 1989 21 years Single Malt Whisky

This is a serious bottle of whisky from the Speysider.

Knockando Distillery was founded by J. Thompson in 1898 using the new invention of electricity, the first of its kind. He was certain that, at least, the distillery would not explode in a ball of fire as so many neighbors had done.

He did however go bankrupt and the stills were sold off within the first decade to Gilbey’s of London’s dry gin fame.

Extensively used by London’s Justerini and Brooks since the 1960’s, the distillery was first to release annualized bottles. Their 12 year releases are great drinking, but are so much fun to collect, they have been putting them out for 50 years now. What a magnificent pursuit for a collector.

This fine bottle is a maturer, deeper and more exclusive version of that legendary dram. The J&B relationship is not obvious but the royal warrant is still proudly used.
