Pittyviach 1989 28 years
Pittyvaich Distillery was built by Bells in 1974 to help with the very popular bells blending machine. With their clever Bell’s decanter and great value Bells had become the top selling Scotch, and could be found anywhere from Australia to Zambia and in between.
A lot of those bottles from the 80’s hold at least a small component of Pittyvaich magic.
In the confusing churn of whisky amalgamations in the 80’s Pittyvaich was declared surplus, was mothballed and subsequently demolished.
So this is a ghost distillery and an official cask strength expression of limited numbers, and will be very valuable some day. Maybe like Rosebank or Port Ellen, maybe.
