Whisky from Whyte and Mackay can be trusted to be delicious, and we are certain that this one will be delightful. However, the design and great condition of the bottle and box do make it a lovely collection piece.

Founded by Mr Whyte and Mr Mackay in 1844 as whisky merchants and bonded warehousemen, the pair soon launched their own blended Scotch under the unsurprising name of Whyte & Mackay Special.

Unlike many other operators at the time this company was very successful and stayed independent until 1972, quite a feat considering the ongoing turmoil of the preceding 100 years.

Nowadays W and M is owned by Emprador and operates Dalmore, fettercairn, Jura, and Invergordon, where they recently developed the very popular Shackleton blend.
